Frequently Asked Questions About MCM Autotrack Power & Free Conveyor Systems
MCM Autotrack is a range of power and free overhead chain conveyor systems manufactured by Amber Industries. The system uses separate chain and trolley tracks, allowing products to be stopped, accumulated and automatically directed along different routes according to the required sequence of processes.
MCM Autotrack uses two coextensive tracks: one for the powered conveyor chain and another for the load-carrying trolleys. The powered chain moves the trolley assemblies through the system, while the power and free arrangement allows individual product loads to be stopped and controlled according to the requirements of the manufacturing process.
The power and free design provides flexible control over product movement within a conveyor system. Loads can be stopped, accumulated in buffer storage areas, automatically routed to different destinations and moved through designated conveyor zones at different speeds to suit individual manufacturing or processing requirements.
Yes. Products can be identified electronically or using mechanical flags and automatically directed to specific destinations. These can include process plant lines, assembly lines, inspection stations and unloading zones, allowing products to follow different routes and sequences within the same conveyor system.
Yes. Product loads can be stopped at almost any position within the power and free system. Buffer storage and accumulation zones can also be incorporated to temporarily store products, helping to manage production imbalances and the impact of shift changes.
Yes. Speed changes can be incorporated into designated zones of an MCM Autotrack conveyor system. This allows product movement to be matched to the requirements of different in-line manufacturing or processing operations.
The MCM Autotrack range includes systems for light, medium and heavy-duty applications. Published load capacities are 50 kg per trolley for Autotrack 50, 100 kg per trolley for Autotrack 100, and 500 kg per trolley for both Autotrack 500 and Autotrack 500S. The Autotrack 500S has higher chain-pull characteristics.
Yes. MCM Autotrack systems can be engineered for demanding heavy-duty applications. Amber Industries has used AT500 systems to carry trailer chassis weighing more than 6,000 kg through surface coating plants and assembly lines.
MCM Autotrack conveyors are suitable for manufacturing and processing applications where products need to be stopped, accumulated, stored or routed through different operations. Applications can include process plant lines, assembly lines, inspection stations, buffer storage areas and unloading zones.
Yes. MCM Autotrack can be incorporated into automated production and materials handling systems. Depending on the requirements of the application, conveyor control systems can incorporate PLCs, HMIs, sensors, RFID and barcode scanning, as well as functions such as product tracking, system diagnostics and automated routing.
